Fibre-to-the-home for many households in Austria

Contract in the mid double-digit million range between Kontron and Speed Connect Austria signed

Kontron group contributes to the access to modern fibre-to-the-home networks by implementing the active network equipment for Speed Connect Austria’s fibre-to-the-home solution.

The contract in the mid double-digit million range between Speed Connect Austria and Kontron Transportation, a member of Kontron group, for optical broadband products delivery and deployment services of their Open-Access FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) network in Austria, has been signed in June 2023.

Many households and companies will get faster internet access using broadband products developed and manufactured by Kontron Slovenia. The implementation work will start end of June 2023. Only one month later the first households, companies and municipalities in Lower Austria will be connected to the next-generation optical broadband network. Most components of the equipememt will be maufactured in Europe.

Speed Connect Austria is a newly established supplier of high-speed FTTH networks with state-of-the-art standard (XGS-PON based) for rural areas in Austria.
